Delta County
With more than 200 miles of shoreline, Delta County gives water sport enthusiasts plenty to enjoy, from fishing to boating and waterskiing or just soaking up the sun on white-sand beaches. There’s also plenty of fun inland, with golfing, shopping, forest hiking, historical sightseeing and enough events to excite everyone.
MORE LAKESHORE, MORE FUN
The fun starts at the water’s edge along the Bays de Noc shoreline. Delta County is called the “Walleye Capital of the World,” with anglers converging for openwater and ice fishing and ESPN for its B.A.S.S. Elite Series Professional bass fishing tournament. Boaters enjoy Gladstone and Escanaba harbors and marinas and many islands, while divers can explore 30 sunken ships. The fun continues away from the lake into the Hiawatha National Forest, with its large tracts of public land where you can hike, mountain bike and ride ORVs. Or you can hit the Bays de Noc Grand Island Trail, which nearly connects the 40 miles between Lakes Michigan and Superior and is open for horseback riders, backpackers, hikers and mushers.
Choose from many different golf courses and experiences during your stay. Four of the courses rank in the U.P.’s top fifteen best. Our golf destinations compete amongst each other to show the best hospitality. We will even throw in spectacular scenery and top it off with same day tee times! Experience the excitement of off-road truck racing at Bark River International Raceway and auto racing at U.P. International Raceway.
